Sweet! Size 9W

These sweet potatoes were harvested from our Food Action Group’s LaMott community garden plot; the test plot for very, very low maintenance crops. Yup. Outright neglected.  This is the first time I’ve been involved in growing sweet potatoes. These are consistent in neither size nor form; and not,  particularly, fashionable on a superficial level. But beautiful, clean, sweet and orange on the inside. Sweet potatoes are going right to my “to grow” list for next year’s home garden. I, also, harvested a few butternut squash and plenty of cowpeas. Cowpeas, also, thrive on….hmmm…being self sufficient. Butternut squash…not so much.
